Alices Story:
Alice, aged 10, was born five weeks premature weighing a tiny 3lb 9ozs. She spent the first few weeks of her life in an incubator, where doctors found a heart murmur and later diagnosed her with the congenital condition, Tetralogy of Fallots, meaning she was born with four different heart defects. Her care was transferred to the specialist cardiac team at our hospital and at 11-months-old she received major open-heart surgery to save her life. When Alice heard she could help raise money for our hospital by designing our charity Christmas card, she jumped at the chance and set to work straight away. She created a card that incorporates our iconic red balloon and uses bright colours to make it really eye-catching.
We think she did a fantastic job!
